Product Description
SM206E-UVindex UV Index Meter
Introduction and Applications

In recent years, due to the increasing depletion of stratospheric ozone, ground-level UV exposure has significantly risen. Environmental scientists worldwide emphasize the importance of understanding ultraviolet radiation's harmful effects and taking necessary protective measures.

As stratospheric ozone continues to decrease, UVB components—which have the greatest impact on human health—are expected to increase. When skin is exposed to UV radiation, epidermal melanocytes produce melanin to absorb UV rays and prevent skin damage. Prolonged UV exposure leads to significant melanin deposition, resulting in permanent tanning marks.

Our UV index meter accurately measures UVA+UVB irradiation intensity in sunlight and provides corresponding UV index levels. This enables users to monitor local ultraviolet intensity, take timely outdoor protection measures, and measure irradiation power per unit area from UV sources.

Product Features
  • Measurement of ultraviolet radiation index in sunlight
  • UV blocking performance testing for sun-protective clothing and sunscreen products
  • Testing of ultraviolet blocking performance for building film, solar film, and insulating glass
  • Energy testing for pet UVB lamps, household disinfection lamps, and livestock sterilization lamps
UV Radiation Intensity Classification
UV Radiation Power (µW/cm²) Grade UV Index UV Radiation Intensity
<500 Grade 1 0, 1, 2 Very Weak
500~1000 Grade 2 3, 4 Weak
1000~1500 Grade 3 5, 6 Medium
1500~3000 Grade 4 7, 8, 9 Strong
>3000 Grade 5 ≥10 Very Strong
Recommended Protective Measures
UV Index Time to Skin Redness (minutes) Protective Measures
0, 1, 2 100-180 No protective measures required
3, 4 60-100 Apply sunscreen appropriately
5, 6 30-60 Wear sun hat, sunglasses, sun umbrella; apply SPF 15+ sunscreen
7, 8, 9 20-40 Avoid outdoor activities from 10am-4pm; stay in shade
≥10 <20 Avoid outdoor activities; take comprehensive protective measures when necessary
